Good Moon Farm has grown from an initial desire to provide fresh local food to our home into a project that provides produce to our island community and those that come to visit. We are key leaders in a territory wide movement to revitalise local organic food production in the British Virgin Islands. Agriculture has been in steep decline over the last 50 years as highly processed imported foods dominate our island’s food market. We trying changing that.
At the centre of our practice is the lunar planting calendar, or as we say in the Caribbean we plant on the “Good Moon.” Our farming methods are fully regenerative with a focus on growing soil as well as food. Our ‘No Dig’ techniques avoid disrupting the natural integrity of the soil and allow micro organisms and fungal networks to thrive. We pride ourselves in creating our own compost that keeps our beds fertile and our plants happy.
